Arrow Creek Simmentals located in the Rossburn area is run by Terry and Lionel Kaskiw and has been breeding quality Simmental cattle for over 30 years. They started by purchasing traditional purebreds and then built a program around polled Simmentals. The herd has changed over the past 10 years to a red and black program. Their herd consists of 120 registered red and black purebreds. The HAAS G217 cow that was purchased from HAAS Ranch moved them forward in the industry and then the purchase of Wheatland Red Teddy 457P in 2006 created a lot of interest at the farm. The combination of Red Teddy and G217 has produced several herd sires for the industry and produced some super females for ACS and for other breeders. Their program has used a lot of Wheatland herd sires over the past ten years and the influence of Wheatland Lady 902J can be seen in several of their pedigrees. Herd sires include Wheatland Red Teddy 457P, Wheatland Red Ace 747T, MFR Drifter 804U, Wheatland Headline 872U, Wheatland Cruzer 995W. Semen on several of their bulls and sons that have sold through their annual Rebels of the West Bull and Female Sale can be purchased through Bouchard Livestock International. We have an Annual Bull Sale “The Rebels of the West Bull and Female Sale” takes place the second Sunday in March at Heartland Livestock in Virden Manitoba. We also consign females to the Canadian Western Agribition Simmental Sale as well as the Shades of the Prairies Sale in Brandon, Manitoba.Feel free to stop by the farm for a visit if the coffee isn’t on we can probably find something else to quench your thirst.
